Liverpool have offered defender Virgil van Dijk a new contract, and talks are continuing, according to The Athletic.
The Reds currently have the best defensive record in the Premier League after 13 games, conceding only eight times, and their captain has played an influential role in leading the rearguard.
Van Dijk has helped keep seven clean sheets while winning 70 percent of his aerial and 50% of his ground duels.
They have also been defensively impressive in the Champions League, letting in just one goal after five games and keeping four shut-outs.
The 33-year-old is a key player they cannot afford to let him walk.
Discussions are also expected to commence with Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward has delivered world-class performances consistently over his seven years with the club.
Salah has recorded 11 goals and seven assists in his 13 Premier League appearances this season.
The 32-year-old is the man for the big moments, as evidenced by his goal and an assist in his last outing against reigning champions Manchester City.
Like Van Dijk, his contract also expires at the end of this season, but the top brass are ready to offer him a new deal with fans keen on seeing their hero stay on.
Van Dijk’s leadership and defensive solidity have been crucial for Liverpool, while Salah’s goal-scoring prowess has made him one of the most feared attackers in the Premier League.
Arne Slot’s side are of the Premier League and Champions League tables and look set to make the 2024/25 season a memorable campaign.
Fans will be desperately awaiting official announcements regarding the contract extensions.
