Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has died in a tragic car accident alongside his brother.
The 28-year-old had been travelling in the North West of Spain, in the Zamora region, when the incident took place.
Jota had become a huge fan-favourite since his arrival on Merseyside back in 2020. The Portuguese forward has made 182 appearances for the Reds, scoring 65 goals.
He was a crucial part of both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot’s successful sides, winning the League Cup twice and FA Cup in 2022 before winning the Premier League title just over a month ago.
Jota only celebrated his marriage two weeks ago and was a father to three young children. This news is absolutely devastating. No words can do it justice.
He gave us so many incredible memories to cherish as Liverpool fans and he will never be forgotten.
Everyone at Anfield Index sends their love and strength to the Jota family during this unimaginable time. May Diogo, and his brother, rest in peace. You’ll Never Walk Alone.
