The transfer team at La Liga giants Barcelona could well be afforded a timely financial boost courtesy of their counterparts at Premier League leaders Liverpool.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards the Reds’ interest in the signing of Nico González as being behind as much.
Midfielder Nico, for his part, is in the midst of a stellar opening to the campaign on the books of Portuguese heavyweights Porto.
So much so that a number of the continent’s top cubs have begun sniffing around the 22-year-old’s signature with a view to next season.
Front and centre are Liverpool, whom it is claimed could even be willing to activate Nico’s €60 million release clause.
And, in the case of as much playing out, entitled to a significant chunk of this fee would be the aforementioned Barcelona.
As part of the deal which saw Nico make the move to Porto back in the summer of 2023, the Blaugrana secured for themselves a 40% sell-on clause.
Should Liverpool agree to cough up the full €60 million in the Spaniard’s release clause, Barca would therefore be in line for a cash boost in the region of €24 million.
