Liverpool have ramped up talks to sign Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward Hugo Ekitiké (23) and a club-to-club agreement is reportedly close between the Premier League champions and the Bundesliga side, according to Foot Mercato. The Reds have secured an agreement on personal terms with the France U21 international over a six-year contract. The former Reims and PSG centre-forward has made it clear he wants to join Arne Slot’s Liverpool side.

Ekitiké played a crucial part in Frankfurt’s push to the Champions League and their Europa League run to the quarter-finals. The 23-year-old logged 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches. Foot Mercato understands that Die Adler would part ways with Ekitiké in exchange for a transfer fee estimated between €80m and €100m. The outlet adds that a club-to-club agreement is close whereas Fabrizio Romano reports that Eintracht Frankfurt have rejected Liverpool’s opening bid. Talks are set to continue between the two clubs.
