In a recent post on Give Me Sport, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Liverpool are eyeing a move for Newcastle United star Alexander Isak. It has been claimed that the Reds are dreaming of a move to sign the Swedish centre-forward in this summer transfer period.

Isak’s Excellent Form In The Premier League

Isak has enjoyed another productive campaign at the Tyneside club after putting in a lot of match-winning displays for them in the Premier League. The 25-year-old has banged in 27 goals and grabbed six assists in 40 matches for Newcastle United this season across all competitions.

The Swedish striker has led the line well for the Magpies as he is averaging 2.9 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass success rate of 76.2% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at St. James’ Park will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Reds to land him on the cheap this off-season.

What Will Isak Add To Liverpool Boss Arne Slot’s Team?

Isak can find a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has proven himself to be a capable finisher in the final third and can even create the odd chance for his teammates. The Swedish sensation is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play in the opposition half.

We can expect Isak to add plenty of goals to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s attack. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at Anfield next season.

At 25, Isak has his best years ahead of him which makes him a dream choice for the Reds to consider in this summer transfer window. He has already proven his worth in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Merseyside club.

Furthermore, Isak could help the Reds compete for a lot of major honours over the next few seasons. Therefore, Slot would be wise to go all out to sign the Swedish striker this summer.
