WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Reds this morning.
The 52-year-old returns to work five months on from being dismissed by former club Manchester City. Taylor spent almost five years in charge of The Cityzens in which he won the Adobe Women’s FA Cup and Subway Women’s League Cup. He also guided Manchester City to the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals while the club were regular contenders for the Barclays Women’s Super League title.
Taylor has been linked with the Liverpool job for several weeks and he has now been formally unveiled as The Reds’ new head coach.
After being appointed Liverpool head coach, Taylor said “I am delighted to have been appointed as Liverpool’s new Head Coach.
“Everyone in football knows about the history, size and potential of this club, and I am really looking forward to the task ahead.
“Our aim is to create a team that supporters can be proud of, which plays good football and which will hopefully bring success along the way.”
Taylor replaces former Liverpool boss Matt Beard who was sacked by the club back in February. Former interim boss Amber Whiteley is staying on as Taylor’s assistant coach while Chad Gribble will also be added to the backroom staff.
