Roma are reportedly prioritizing a move for Lille defender Bafode Diakite.
Over recent days, Roma have been insistently linked with Diakite who could leave Lille after an excellent second season in France’s top flight.
Diakite collected 5 goals and 2 assists in 21 appearances for Paulo Fonseca’s side while mostly playing as a fullback.
According to Leggo, Diakite is in pole position to join Roma who want him to replace the departing Rick Karsdorp.
Diakite would be guaranteed a spot in Roma’s starting eleven as he is compatible with Daniele De Rossi’s formation and gameplan, having prominently featured in Fonseca’s 433 system.
The 23-year-old earns less than €500,000 and is thus in-line with Roma’s sustainable stance towards this summer’s wage bill restructuring.
