AFC Bournemouth have been in the market for a new centre-back with Dean Huijsen (20) leaving for Real Madrid in a big-money move, and Paris Saint-Germain circling the waters for Ilya Zabarni (22). The Premier League side’s search has led them to Bafodé Diakité (24).
It was reported at the start of the week that Bournemouth had opened discussions with Lille OSC for the Frenchman, with his performances in the UEFA Champions League (such as in the matches against Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund) having caught their attention.
Lille have proven in the past to be tough negotiators, and RMC Sport can now reveal that the club are demanding at least €35m for a player with a contract running until 2028. A price that Bournemouth reportedly are unwilling to currently meet. It has led The Cherries to other avenues, with the club looking at FC Nantes’ Nathan Zézé (20) and Lazio’s Mario Gila (24).
