Ligue 1 Uber Eats once again welcomed a host of top nationalities during the summer of 2023. No fewer than 65 international players were recruited during the transfer window, with some promising signings already on the books.
The first Jordanian to play in France, Mousa Tamari, for example, has already had the opportunity to showcase his dribbling skills and the finesse of his left foot with Montpellier Hérault SC (three goals in four games). Teddy Teuma, the only Maltese player competing in the top flight this season, has also been in sparkling form, with one assist and three goals, including a magnificent one against MHSC.
This season, 71 nationalities are represented among the 18 Ligue 1 Uber Eats clubs, eight more than last year. Apart from France, 17 countries have five or more nationals in our league, while 21 nations have one player flying the flag in France's top flight.
Senegal overtakes Brazil
Behind the French nationality, logically the most represented with 230 players, Senegal is the nation most represented in Ligue 1 Uber Eats in 2023-24, with 24 players spread across ten different clubs (Clermont, HAC, RC Lens, Lorient, OM, FC Metz, AS Monaco, FC Nantes, OGC Nice and Stade de Reims). The West African country thus overtakes Brazil, last year's leader, thanks in no small part to FC Metz. With seven players, Les Grenats have 29% of the Senegalese players in Ligue 1 Uber Eats this season. Further proof that the partnership between the Moselle-based club and the Dakar-based Génération Foot academy is bearing fruit.
Behind Senegal, two countries share second place. Côte d'Ivoire and Morocco, with 17 representatives each, were unable to be separated. Brazil, meanwhile, has slipped back to fourth place, dropping from 19 to 15 players in the space of a year. Five other nations manage to place at least ten players in our league: Algeria, Portugal, Belgium, Spain and Switzerland.

Toulouse, the most cosmopolitan
As was the case last year, Toulouse FC is the club with the most foreign players in Ligue 1 Uber Eats this season. Toulouse's 22 foreigners, who come from 18 different countries, make up the most cosmopolitan dressing room in the league. Olympique de Marseille are not far behind, with 21 foreign players and 16 different nationalities.

The 18 Ligue 1 Uber Eats clubs have between 8 and 18 different nationalities among their players, from Stade Brestois 29 to Toulouse FC. Like FC Metz with its Senegalese players, a number of trends are emerging.
PSG, for example, has a penchant for the Iberian peninsula, with five of the league's ten Spaniards (Asensio, Rico, Ruiz, Soler, Tenas) in the squad and five of the league's 13 Portuguese (Danilo, G. Ramos, Nuno Tavares, Nhaga, Vitinha).
For their part, Toulouse FC are enjoying their Scandinavian adventure, with two of the league's three Danes (Desler, Nicolaisen), two of the league's three Norwegians (Kamanzi, Donnum), the only Finn (Skytta) and one of the three Swedes (Zanden) in Ligue 1 Uber Eats this season.
In terms of French players, OM have the fewest in their squad with five. In contrast, Le Havre AC has the most (19).
