Dani Ceballos and Rodrygo are two Real Madrid players still facing an uncertain future at the club in the final week of the transfer window.

While Rodrygo has continued to gain the attention of various Premier League clubs, Ceballos has struggled to attract a suitable offer.

Although the former Real Betis midfielder has had no shortage of suitors, most of the interest has come from clubs that are not doing well financially.

Marseille join the race for Ceballos

According to Fabrizio Romano, Marseille have joined the race to sign Dani Ceballos in the final week of the transfer market.

The Real Madrid midfielder, in fact, is a dream target for the French outfit, who have already roped in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in a permanent deal this summer.

Romano adds that initial talks between Marseille and Real Madrid have taken place, with the French club keen on signing the midfielder on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy.

However, negotiations won’t be easy for Marseille, as Real Madrid are not too keen on offloading Ceballos on a cheap valuation.

From a sporting perspective, Ceballos would add a lot of creativity to a Marseille midfield that boasts the services of physically imposing players such as Hojbjerg and Geoffrey Kondogbia.

With Adrien Rabiot on his way out, Marseille believe the signing of Ceballos can bring that much-needed balance in the middle of the park.

But it remains to be seen whether or not Real Madrid are interested in offloading Ceballos on a loan deal and even if they do, it will be on their terms.

The Spanish giants would ideally want to the permanent buy clause to be high and mandatory, while Marseille will also be expected to bear the majority of Ceballos’ wages.
