According to Globo, Tite is preparing for an emotional return to Pacaembu as part of the “Reencontro de Gigantes” event, which will reunite champions from Corinthians’ memorable 2012 Libertadores triumph with former Boca Juniors idols on July 5th.
Reflecting on his upcoming visit, Tite spoke openly of his gratitude for the opportunity to revisit the stadium linked forever with a defining chapter in the club’s history: “Remembering that match takes me back to the title. To recall the atmosphere at Pacaembu, the energy and the connection between the fans and the team in those decisive, emotional games. It brings gratitude and great memories,” he said.
Tite was at the helm for Corinthians’ first ever Copa Libertadores championship, a feat still revered by the club’s supporters. Among those confirmed for the event alongside Tite are several key players from that squad, including Fábio Santos, Paulinho, Alessandro, Danilo, and Emerson Sheik. They’ll face a lineup of Boca Juniors greats in what is as much a celebration as a reunion.
Recalling specific moments, Tite mentioned the infamous quarterfinal second leg against Vasco da Gama. Sent off, he watched the tense conclusion of the match from the stands, right among the fans: “Even in that moment against Vasco, I was literally with the supporters celebrating a crucial victory that put us a step closer,” he remembered.
Tite emphasized the collective spirit that carried Corinthians through their historic campaign, highlighting the contributions of both players and supporters: “It was a story made by many people, with a lot of support, many hands and feet. Now we have a chance not just to remember, but to feel that emotion again.”
With anticipation building for the celebratory fixture, Tite and his former players are set to reawaken memories of a period that transformed the club on and off the pitch. The lasting significance of Pacaembu in the narrative of Corinthians remains central, serving not just as a venue but as a symbol of unity and achievement for the team and its fans.
