Liam Delap is demanding a first-choice role as the Ipswich Town striker prepares to decide his next club.
Delap is in demand following Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League, a situation that has activated a £30m release clause in his contract.
The 22-year-old scored 12 league goals during an impressive individual campaign and has several suitors across the Premier League.
Delap is expected to decide his future before heading to the u-21 European Championship next week.
Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that the forward held positive talks with Chelsea last week and remains Manchester United’s leading target to strengthen at centre-forward. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca knows the player well from their time together at Manchester City.
Newcastle United are also attempting to lure Delap to St James’ Park, while Everton have submitted a proposal.
The Toffees are considered outsiders but have assured Delap that he would be their leading forward.
Delap wants to assure regular football as he looks to break into the England squad for next summer’s World Cup.
He had desired European competition but will is prepared to consider all offers, particularly given Manchester United and Everton would offer the ex-Manchester City striker a return to the north west.
All of the interested sides are prepared to activate his release clause once a decision is made.
