While Cole Palmer got a lot of credit for his excellent contributions in attack in yesterday’s win over Liverpool, it was the solid team structure and defence which gave Chelsea the control they needed to actually earn 3 points against the champions.

Key to that was the defensive pairing of Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah, and after the game Colwill spoke to Chelsea TV about his feelings following the win
“I’m very, very happy [with the performance], in the changing room everyone was happy too, and we’re excited to get the 3 points and push on to the next game. Nobody can afford to count on anyone else [in games like this] and today everyone was amazing, and that’s why we got 3 points.”
Colwill was also asked about his teammate Cole Palmer who finally scored today as part of an excellent performance all round:
“We want him to score, he’s been the best player in every single game, every if he doesn’t score or provide assists. It meant a lot to him and so we’re all happy.

Colwill also hailed the Stamford Bridge atmosphere, which got off on the right foot after Enzo Fernandez’ early goal and then stayed lively as the Blues weathered a storm of Red possession at times:
“It pushes us over the line, at times when we’re stuck in a low block and we’re defending, it gives us that extra belief and that extra man to try and not concede.”
Next up – a really tough test away at St James’ Park.
