Doubts surrounding Kyogo’s Celtic future have been raised recently with talk of interest from MLS side Atlanta United, and yesterday The Celtic Star reported on reliable French sources reporting that Jota’s side Rennes have been in discussions with both Celtic and Kyogo’s agents about a January deal for the Celtic striker.
That could perhaps explain Kyogo’s body language recently, but for me it would be sheer madness to even contemplate letting him go, especially in this window.

Kyogo might not be firing in all cylinders this campaign, but he’s still our main man in the centre forward position and if we were to let him go we would need to replace him with someone of a similar quality or much better.
That would prove very difficult indeed, as players of Kyogo’s ability are hard to come by and mostly well out of our price range.
We are in a great position when it comes to the league, but even so we still have to get over the line and having a quality player such as Kyogo will make that job a whole lot easier, especially with Adam Idah failing to find the back of the net in a dozen consecutive matches.

There’s also the small matter of possible advancement in the UEFA Champions League, and having a quality player such as Kyogo is a must if we want to make our mark in Europe. Surely Kyogo will want to play knock-out football in the world’s top club competition?
Kyogo will move on eventually, but now is not the right time. Celtic should tell Rennes to come back for more talks in the summer but for now there’s nothing possible as Kyogo is needed at Celtic.
