Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 32-year-old had an underwhelming season by his standards last year and he is clearly on the decline. Manchester United would do well to sell the former Real Madrid star this summer and bring in a quality young defensive midfielder.

Meanwhile, former Brazilian international and Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva believes that Casemiro remains a quality player who could make a big difference in the middle of the park for Arsenal.

“Casemiro could be a good fit for Arsenal, let’s wait and see what happens. It would be very interesting if Thomas Partey left the club. If that spot becomes available then it would be interesting to see Casemiro there,” Gilberto said (h/t Express). “He would bring a very strong and stable option to their midfield. For me, Casemiro is still a good player. I don’t know whether he’s going to stay or not in the club, but he’s a player I would love to have on my team.”

Thomas Partey has been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer and Silva reckons that Casemiro would be a quality replacement for the Ghana international. It will be interesting to see if Casemiro is willing to continue in the Premier League if he leaves Manchester United. He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia recently.

Man United should cash in on Casemiro

There is no doubt that he used to be a world class player and he has won multiple major trophies throughout his career. However, he isn’t getting any younger and Manchester United should look to start planning for the future.

If a lucrative offer comes in for the midfielder this summer, it would be wise of the Red Devils to cash in on him and invest the proceeds from his departure into the playing squad. Manchester United need to rebuild their midfield around Kobbie Mainoo and bringing in a quality defensive midfielder to partner him would be ideal.

As for Arsenal, it will be interesting to see if they are willing to invest in a player well into his 30s.
