It has looked likely all summer that RC Lens would lose Kevin Danso (25). With just four days to go until the closure of the transfer window, his departure now looks set to be completed.
Danso has garnered considerable interest from multiple clubs in Serie A, throughout the window, including from the likes of Atalanta and Juventus. However, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Austria international now looks all set to join AS Roma, whose sporting director, Florent Ghisolfi, worked at Les Sang et Or, before moving to OGC Nice and then Roma.
Romano understands that Danso will join the Serie A giants on a loan deal that will include an obligation to make the move permanent for €25m (€22m plus €3m in add-ons). The centre-back will then sign a long-term deal with Roma. With the deal verbally agreed, Danso is now set to undergo ahead of the completion of his move away from the Stade Bollaert. It is a blow for Lens, who will look to secure their place in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stages later this week.
