Posting to Instagram, Leicester City player Ben Nelson has confirmed that while on loan at Oxford United, he has picked up a "serious injury" blow. Nelson confirmed that he has undergone surgery for the injury.

As reported by Oxford Mail, Ben Nelson was forced off in the U's penultimate match before the international break, a match they won 1-0 against Hull City. After he hobbled off, Oxford awaited his scan results. Unfortunately, it doesn't look great.

In his own words, Ben Nelson said: "Gutted to have picked up a serious injury in my last game. Was really enjoying every minute of playing but unfortunately these things happen in football. I have had surgery and I'm now on the road to recovery."

The Scottish defender has made eight appearances for Oxford in the Championship, starting in each of them. He has been a stalwart at the back, with Oxford sitting in a midtable position currently.

Nelson is just 20 years old, so it won't be nice for him to pick up a serious injury at this stage of his career, especially when he was entering a good run of form. Still, the Foxes and the Yellows will join collectively in wishing Ben Nelson a speedy recovery.
