Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday supporters will be concerned about their manager situations as rivals have acted to appoint attractive options.

Preparations for clubs across the country ahead of the 2025-26 Championship season are underway.

As the summer approaches, manager activity across the Championship has been unrelenting, with a number of sides set to have new coaches occupy their dugouts.

Two clubs who are still yet to provide clarity over the future of their managers though, are Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday, with Ruud van Nistelrooy and Danny Rohl still currently in charge of their respective sides.

With nothing happening at the moment, supporters from both the Foxes and Owls will be concerned about the lateness of potentially needing to appoint a new boss, with a number of other Championship sides showing much more proactiveness by snapping up some appealing options.

There is yet to be much activity on the manager front at both Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday.

At the King Power Stadium, Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett reported that Ruud van Nistelrooy is still yet to discuss his future with the Leicester City board after the Premier League season concluded.

Dorsett claims the 48-year-old is now spending time with his family back home in the Netherlands, with it remaining unclear whether he will be in charge at the King Power Stadium in the Championship.

Meanwhile, previous target Russell Martin has become the manager of Rangers, while the Foxes have been touted to approach the likes of Liam Rosenior for the position, although nothing has advanced past the speculation.

In Yorkshire, Danny Rohl appears set on departing from Hillsborough.

There has been interest in him from Bundesliga clubs. He was heavily linked with Werder Bremen, but there have been reports that they baulked at the £5 million release fee required for him to be able to leave Sheffield Wednesday. He has also been linked with vacant positions at RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg.

Meanwhile, in an interview with the German newspaper Bild, Rohl admitted he wants to make a return to the German top-flight "as soon as possible".

Proactive response from other Championship clubs has put Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday at a disadvantage

With just over eight weeks remaining until the first ball is kicked for the 2025-26 season, both Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday have so much work to put in place so their squads can be ready for the challenge of another second tier campaign.

While the Foxes and Owls have done very little to change the manager situation, other Championship teams are acting or have acted to find replacements in their dugouts.

West Brom recently appointed Ryan Mason on a three-year contract at The Hawthorns, and while it is a gamble to take on someone with no prior Championship experience, the former Hull City midfielder has soaked up vital experience in his Spurs stint from the likes of José Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou that he can implement in the Black Country.

Norwich City have landed Liam Manning too, who did a sensational job to guide Bristol City into the play-offs, while Southampton secured the appointment of former Lens coach Will Still, who is very much on the rise in his coaching career from his time in France.

Meanwhile, Queens Park Rangers and Middlesbrough need to appoint new bosses too and could land some of Leicester or Sheffield Wednesday’s targets if they are too slow to respond.

It will be very concerning for supporters of Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday to see so many of their rivals acting early to bring in new managers.

From the outside, looking in, it is unlikely either Van Nistelrooy or Rohl will be at their clubs next season, so it’s important clarity is given so everybody connected with the sides can firmly focus on the upcoming campaign.
