Leeds United Star ‘One Of The Most Likely’ As Club Are ‘Accelerating’ | OneFootball

One of Leeds United‘s stars is now considered ‘one of the likely options’ for a La Liga side who are ‘accelerating’ their efforts in the transfer market.

Leeds are in the midst of a crucial summer as they plan for a return to the Premier League under Daniel Farke, with big speculation over potential signings, with Slovakia defender Jaka Bijol a recent link.

Players will also go though and the jury is out on Junior Firpo, as the 28-year-old left-back’s contract with Leeds will expire at the end of June and the club are in talks with him regarding a new deal.

Leeds might have to find a left-back, as Firpo has no shortage of admirers in the ongoing market, with Lazio and Lyon keen on signing him.

He played a key role last season, helping Leeds secure promotion back to the Premier League and he is one of the key players of the squad with experience of playing in the top flight.

The Whites will not want to lose him, but Firpo’s former club, Real Betis, have entered the race looking for his signature.

Betis, who played the Conference League final last season, are looking to secure a left-back and they have players in mind to do so.

According to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, Firpo is now ‘one of the most likely options’ for Betis and the club are ‘accelerating’ their efforts in the transfer market.

The La Liga outfit are in advanced talks with Firpo on a return to Betis in the summer as a free agent.

Firpo has featured 119 games for Leeds so far and if he decides to leave Elland Road it will come as a blow for Daniel Farke’s side

Betis are also looking at Aston Villa’s Alex Moreno, who is a former Real Betis star as well, alongside Javi Galan from Atletico Madrid.

Firpo came through the Betis academy system before he joined Barcelona in 2019 and has previously admitted that he wants to return to the Sevilla-based club in the future one day.

Betis will be in Europe next season and a return to his former club to help them in the Europa League might prove enticing to the Leeds star.
