Florian Plettenberg reports that Anton Stach has agreed personal terms with Leeds United, but the Premier League side are yet to reach an agreement with Hoffenheim who currently demand around €20m plus add-ons.
Leeds United’s interest in the 26-year-old German midfielder originated last week, but the newly-promoted club also face competition from elsewhere, with Plettenberg adding that TSG have received several enquiries for Stach.
Hoffenheim’s €20m valuation of Stach, who has a contract until 2027, is around market value at the Bundesliga side know players of similar quality have already been sold for more. If Stach does leave, Hoffenheim already have a potential replacement in their squad after signing Leon Avdullahu from Basel earlier in the window. Hoffenheim’s other crop of midfielders includes Dennis Geiger, Grischa Prömel, Finn Ole Becker and Umut Tohumcu.
A defensive-minded box-to-box midfielder, Anton Stach ranks in the 93rd percentile for interceptions (1.65 per 90), 99th percentile for clearances (3.65 per 90) and 88th percentile for aerials won (1.83 per 90), when compared to positional peers across the top five European leagues, per FBRef.
During the 2023/24 campaign, Stach was ranked second for interceptions (74) across Europe’s top five leagues.
