Highlights

  1. 49ers Enterprises are expected to provide financial support for Leeds United's transfer market spending this summer.
  2. Leeds United faces financial challenges due to cash flow issues and outstanding transfer fees, hindering big spending unless players are sold.
  3. Returning loanees like Aaronson, Roca, Wober & Harrison may influence Leeds' summer business depending on play-off results, with backing from 49ers.

Kieran Maguire expects the Leeds United owners to bankroll the summer spending in the upcoming transfer market.

The Whites missed out on automatic promotion to the Premier League on the final day of the Championship season.

Daniel Farke’s side finished six points behind second place Ipswich Town, with a 2-1 defeat to Southampton consigning them to the play-offs instead.

The Yorkshire outfit is seeking a top flight return at the first attempt, having suffered relegation 12 months ago.

Four defeats in their last six games means they are now going into the play-offs in a serious run of poor form.

Maguire expects 49ers Enterprises to back Leeds this summer with enough money to spend in the transfer market even if they fail to gain promotion.

The football finance expert has claimed the US investors will want to provide the club with the resources needed to succeed, even if they are currently struggling with cash flow issues.

Leeds United have got a lot of players out on loan this season which could cushion the blow of not being in the Premier League,” said Maguire, via Football Insider.

“So that’s something which they will have to negotiate their way through next season.

“Leeds do have a serious cash flow issue in terms of what they owe to other clubs for previous signings so that will stop them spending big this summer unless they sell.

“But I think the 49ers are too big of a brand to not give the club appropriate levels of support and they will know that there will be backlash if they fail to do so.”

It was revealed in the club’s latest accounts that Leeds posted a loss of £33.7 million.

The Whites also owe up to £190 million in outgoing transfer fees, which could pose an issue in the upcoming summer window.

Leeds United's loanees

Leeds have a number of players out on loan this season that will be returning to the club in the summer.

This includes the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca, Max Wober and Jack Harrison, among others.

It remains to be seen whether any of these players can convince Farke to be a part of his first team plans, or if their futures lie elsewhere.

Leeds’ summer business will also depend on the outcome of their play-off run.

Farke’s team faces Norwich City in the first leg of their semi-final on 12 May in a 12pm kick-off at Carrow Road.

49ers will want to back Leeds to success

49ers Enterprises are a serious operation and will surely have big plans for the club long-term.

Those big plans will involve Leeds being back in the Premier League, so it will suit their goals to back the team this summer with some money to spend on transfers.

If Leeds fail to go up this year it could be a real blow to their finances, but Farke’s team would still be one of the favourites to go up next year.

There is a lot of pressure on the team to get a result against Norwich, but the owners will ensure that the team is competitive again next season if they don’t go up.
