Southampton and Burnley now face competition from Leeds United as the trio of clubs attempt to sign soon-to-be free agent Callum O'Hare.

The writing has been on the wall for some time now for Coventry and their star creative midfielder. O'Hare looks set to leave the Sky Blues after a wonderful return from a grueling injury that kept him out for 10 months.

City manager Mark Robins revealed during the season that O'Hare had been offered a new deal by the club but that he had refused to sign any new deal until the end of the campaign, so he could assess his options.

The possibility of staying put wasn't off the table, but Coventry Live later reported that he had rejected the club's advances.

He seemed to be potentially holding out for a Premier League move, but one of the big boys of the second tier is now interested in bringing him in.

TEAMtalk have reported that the Whites have expressed their interest in O'Hare and are now part of a battle with Southampton and Burnley to try and sign the 26-year-old. They added that Leeds have been keeping tabs on him.

Crysencio Summerville is set to be subject to a lot of attention this summer, and O'Hare could be a cheaper option to try and plug any gaps in the attacking side of the midfield that may be opened up if the Dutchman makes a move away from Elland Road this summer.

West Ham United have also been reported to be a team who are interested in signing O'Hare, as well as Hull City centre-back Jacob Greaves, according to The Guardian.

Robins joked, after the final game of the season, with O'Hare about his chances of keeping him, and said they were already planning for life without him.

"I have just said in the dressing room, 'I’m not going to give up on you'," the boss said, via Coventry Live. "But we started laughing and I know that he’s probably going to choose somewhere else to go. But he’s been incredible as well and I thought the supporters were outstanding with him, as they were all the players.

"We need more goals from midfield, and with what’s looking like Callum moving on we are looking at that and what happens next."

Callum O'Hare could be a very shrewd move for Leeds United

The financial issues that the Whites are currently having to deal with are well known. Before they can start spending this summer, they need to pay £190 million of money owed to clubs from previously struck deals.

They need to be clever where they can be with their signings, and adding O'Hare to this team would be a brilliant move. He has shown himself to be one of the better players in the division when he is on it, and he could thrive under the pressure of playing at Elland Road.

There could be a mass exodus of creative/attacking players in the Leeds ranks, and O'Hare would be a great way to ease the pain of any potential losses.
