With promotion ambitions running high, Leeds United are setting out their stall early in the summer transfer window. A striker tops the club’s priority list, and TEAMtalk’s latest exclusive reveals the Whites have added AZ Alkmaar forward

to their shortlist, alongside other names with top-flight pedigree.
Parrott, who left Tottenham for AZ last summer, has caught the eye in the Eredivisie, registering 20 goals and five assists in 45 games. “Parrott, who signed for AZ Alkmaar from Tottenham last summer, is being watched closely by Leeds. We understand that he has been discussed internally, although the Whites are yet to make any formal enquiries yet.”
That internal debate is being driven by uncertainty surrounding Patrick Bamford’s future. A likely departure would open the door for fresh attacking impetus—and possibly a whole new look to Daniel Farke’s forward line.
Leeds are hardly short on centre-forward bodies—Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph, and promising youngster Harry Gray are all available. However, there’s a growing sense at Elland Road that reinforcements are necessary to survive and thrive in the Premier League.
Gray recently made his senior debut against Stoke City, but relying on youth alone in the top flight is a risky gamble. Loanee Joel Gelhardt is at a crossroads in his career after a temporary stint at Hull, and with doubts over Piroe’s Premier League suitability, the case for new arrivals strengthens by the week.
Parrott isn’t the only player under watch. Leeds are also tracking Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, currently out on loan at West Ham. “Leeds are also interested in Evan Ferguson, who Brighton may consider selling permanently this summer. The 20-year-old is undoubtedly an exciting prospect but injuries have hampered his development.”
While Ferguson has failed to score in seven appearances for the Hammers, his raw potential continues to attract suitors. Everton are also monitoring the situation, but Leeds’ need and intent could make them early movers.
TEAMtalk also reports interest in Josh Sargent of Norwich City. The American has 15 goals in the Championship this season and previously featured in the Premier League with 26 appearances. His ability to play centrally or out wide adds versatility to a potential Leeds frontline.
Southampton’s Cameron Archer remains another name of note. Previously linked with a move to Elland Road in January, the 23-year-old may now be allowed to leave St Mary’s following relegation. “Leeds retain interest in the 23-year-old and believe he could be a force in the Premier League in the right system.”
Behind all this movement lies a potential managerial pivot. Daniel Farke’s position is under internal review, and should the club decide to make a change, it could drastically alter the shape of the recruitment strategy.
As TEAMtalk noted, “Leeds are currently collecting data on their striker targets and are expected to make enquiries in the coming weeks. The summer will be a busy one, with the club aware that they need to bring in multiple additions to build a squad capable of staying in the Premier League.”
This report is music to Leeds fans’ ears. After watching the club yo-yo between divisions and struggle to replace Bamford’s early Premier League form, the idea of a sharp, mobile forward like Troy Parrott entering his prime is thrilling.
A return of 20 goals in the Eredivisie proves he’s maturing, and if AZ can be tempted with a £20–25m offer, it might be money well spent. Leeds have lacked a reliable finisher with top-level potential for some time, and Parrott might just be ready to make the leap—especially under a coach willing to back young, hungry players.
Interest in Evan Ferguson and Cameron Archer also shows that Leeds aren’t looking for stop-gaps. They’re aiming for long-term assets, players who can grow with the project. Sargent too, with his dual role capabilities, could fit a fluid attacking system.
The only concern? The manager situation. If Farke leaves, recruitment plans may stall or pivot dramatically. Still, it feels like Leeds are moving with purpose again—and that’s exactly what fans want to see.
