In a recent report, The Athletic mentioned that Leeds United are eager to land Mainz keeper Robin Zentner this summer. It has been claimed that the Whites are showing interest in recruiting the German goalie this off-season.
The 30-year-old had a solid campaign at the French club recently as he put in a series of impressive displays for them in Ligue 1. Zentner made 34 appearances for Mainz last season, conceding 46 goals and earning nine clean sheets on all fronts.
The German talent proved his worth as one of the best keepers in Ligue 1. However, Zentner needs to improve his ball distribution after completing just 62.9% of his passes in the French first division (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Mainz will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Whites to snap him up on the cheap this off-season.

Zentner can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few important saves at the back.
The German sensation is a tidy passer of the ball as well and can use his strong 1.95m frame to dominate his penalty area when coming out to collect loose balls and crosses. However, he might need some time to adjust to the high intensity of the Premier League if Leeds United manage to get him on board in this summer transfer period.
Zentner would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Daniel Farke’s match-day squad. He has got the experience to be a success story at Elland Road in the short term. The German keeper could even help Leeds push for a top-half finish in the Premier League next season.
At 30, Zentner has still got a few good seasons left in him to play at his best. Therefore, the Whites would be wise to move in for him as he would bring more experience to their first XI ahead of the new Premier League campaign. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life at the West Yorkshire club.
