Olympique de Marseille are stepping up their pursuit of a goalkeeper. Pau Lopez is expected to depart, amid interest from Como and a new No.1 is therefore a priority for OM.
There are two major targets for Les Phocéens: RC Lens’ Brice Samba (30) and Leeds United’s Illan Meslier (24). L’Équipe understands that a move for Samba is the priority at this stage. In a recent press conference, the France international opened the door to a departure from Les Sang et Or and a move to Marseille would be a dream for the goalkeeper.
However, Meslier would also be keen on a move to the Vélodrome, according to La Provence. The Leeds goalkeeper fits perfectly with Roberto De Zerbi’s style of play, however, he would not represent a cheap option. It is thought that the Championship side would demand around €20m for their No.1.
In any case, Meslier would be in favour of a move to Marseille, with La Provence reporting that the Frenchman can “happily imagine” himself at the club since contact was made between player and club.
