The leader of the Curva Sud answered questions in court yesterday and denied making money from the group, as well as addressing his visit to Silvio Berlusconi’s house.
As a reminder, there is currently a case ongoing against some members of the Curva Sud and Inter’s Curva Nord, with arrests made last year. We wrote at length about the underworld of ultras and how their influence is often more far-reaching than most fans might think.
La Gazzetta dello Sport published an article which has an update on Lucci in particular, the Curva Sud leader. He has been in prison for six months and was questioned in the bunker courtroom in front of the Milanese prison of San Vittore yesterday.
Lucci is one of the defendants in the large-scale proceedings which arose from the investigations of the Police and Guardia di Finanza, coordinated by the DDA prosecutors Paolo Storari and Sara Ombra.
“I have never made money with the Curva, I made money with illicit deals that have nothing to do with drugs,” he said.
“The cash fund of the Sud has always been managed transparently, I have always had good relations with the club and the managers and at the time I even went to Berlusconi’s house to talk about football.
“I also spoke often with Galliani at the time, we talked about football. Often the fans are right-wing, but I am left-wing. I am in favour of the fan card, ever since they introduced it.”
Lucci, who answered questions from one of his lawyers, Alessandro Diddi, began to talk about his role as ultras leader, his rise to the top of the Sud, stating that he had never caused damage or problems for the Rossoneri.
The interrogation, which also includes an accusation of attempted murder in 2019 against the Rossoneri ultra Enzo Anghinelli, will continue in the next hearing, always behind closed doors like the entire proceeding.
In essence, from what has been learned, Lucci – who in recent months has also been the recipient of two precautionary measures for drug-related matters after his arrest at the end of September for criminal association and another order for attempted murder – traced all his behaviour back to his support for Milan and the life of an ultra.
