In their attempts to bolster their midfield department in January, Lazio have reportedly set their sights on two Udinese players.

Lazio Keeping Tabs on Udinese Duo Martin Payero & Sandi Lovric

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Biancocelesti are interested in Martin Payero and Sandi Lovric who remain important players in Kosta Runjaic’s plans. The 26-year-old Argentine is a Banfield youth product who also had experiences at Middlesbrough and Boca Juniors before joining the Zebrette in the summer of 2023. On the other hand, the Slovenian (also 26) has been at the Friulian club since 2022, cementing himself as a regular starter ever since.

Difficult Operation

Nevertheless, the source notes that prising away either player from Udinese remains a difficult task, especially in January. Moreover, Lazio’s senior squad list is already filled, which explains why they’re chasing young players (eligible for the U22 list), primarily Empoli’s Jacobo Fazzini and Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei.

Swap Deal Brewing?

However, it should be noted that Udinese are reportedly interested in Gaetano Castrovilli who endured a tough first half of the season at Formello, thus raising some question marks over his future in the Italian capital. Hence, it remains to be seen if this could lead to a swap involving the Euro 2020 winner and one between Payero and Lovric.
