Empoli have decided to omit Jacapo Fazzini from their matchday squad amidst growing links with Lazio, but Napoli are looking to sabotage the Aquile’s plans.

Empoli Drop Jacopo Fazzini

In his pre-match press conference, Empoli coach Roberto D’Aversa confirmed the 21-year-old will be left behind while the team travels to Venice this weekend, suggesting the midfielder is no longer fully committed to the cause and could be distracted by all the exit talks surrounding him.

Jacopo has not been called up because this morning and during the week he showed doubts and a lack of focus for Saturday’s match. For this reason, the club and I decided not to call him up, also with his own approval. As far as I’m concerned, I need players who are full focused to get a positive result in Venice .

Napoli Enter the Fray with Impressive Offer

While this decision might hint that Empoli are already preparing for life without Fazzini, the player’s next destination might not necessarily be the Italian capital. According to Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Napoli are willing to meet Empoli’s €15 million asking price, whereas Lazio are only offering €12 million in total between loan fees and the obligation to buy.

Lazio Have Agreement in Hand with Jacopo Fazzini

Nevertheless, the Biancocelesti have an agreement in principle with the player’s entourage which keeps them in pole position, but Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani and Co. must work on bridging the gap with Empoli before the negotiations stall, as it would give an opening for the Partenopei to usurp them.
