Lazio have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Hellas Verona left-back Juan Cabal ahead of a potential transfer.

The Biancocelesti are working to bolster Marco Baroni’s squad in the Italian capital and have identified a new left-back as one of their priorities, needing a more reliable option amidst doubts surrounding Elseid Hysaj and Luca Pellegrini.

Lazio have been in close contact with Hellas Verona for a number of works now and are close to finalising a deal worth around €6 million plus add-ons for Cabal, who has three years left on his contract in Veneto.

The Gialloblu purchased the Colombian for €3.5 million from Atletico Nacional in the Summer of 2022; this deal also included a 20% resale clause attached, which is the reason that President Maurizio Setti’s negotiations with his counterpart Claudio Lotito have been taking so long.

As reported by Nicolo Schira, Lazio have agreed to the terms of a contract with Cabal, who is now only a step away from completing his transfer from Hellas Verona, allowing the club to focus on other transfer market priorities.

This season, the 23-year-old Colombian left-back saw 1503 minutes of action across 22 Serie A appearances for the Gialloblu.
