After returning to winning ways in the UEFA Champions League match against Brest, FC Barcelona face another difficult test in La Liga as they host UD Las Palmas for their next game.

The Catalans will be looking to build upon their last win, and several Barcelona players will be looking to put in a good performance in this game to help their team get a win in the league after having been unable to do so for the last two games.

However, one player who will particularly looking forward to this game will be the midfielder Pedri, as MARCA notes that this will be the first time that he faces his boyhood club since making the move to Barcelona in 2020.

Pedri could have faced the Canarians in the last season, but injuries prevented him from doing so. But this time, he is set to face his former side as one of the important members of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona team.

The 22-year-old midfielder made rapid strides in the Las Palmas youth system, as he made a direct jump from their youth system to the first team at 16 years of age under Pepe Mel.

Barcelona were also quick to recognize his talent, as they offered €5 million fixed and another €20 million in variables after watching only three of his games in the Segunda Division.

After spending another year on loan at Las Palmas after signing for Barcelona, the €80m-rated Canarian midfielder has now become an essential part of the Blaugrana team, having accumulated 162 games with them.

In these 162 appearances, he has been able to face some of the biggest teams in Europe, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain, etc., but now, the most special game awaits him as he braces to face his former team, Las Palmas this Saturday.
