Newcastle United Women fell to a 5-3 defeat in their final Group A outing but managed to claw their way back level on two separate occasions before adding a smart third in added time.
And Langley admitted she was proud of her team for the effort and commitment they showed throughout the entire 90 minutes against the Women's FA Cup holders.
"I thought it was a very spirited performance from all the girls," Langley said. "Every single player gave every ounce of effort and drip of sweat to that game and the performance.
"I can't question the team's effort and commitment in the game - we just came up against a quality Manchester United side.
"We managed to score three quality goals and that sort of play and spirit is what we need to take into the remainder of our Championship season."
The Magpies became just the second side to score more than two goals at Leigh Sports Village in 2024, and they certainly did so in style.
Deanna Cooper netted a stunning solo effort and Amy Andrews was on target in similarly eye-catching fashion before Lois Joel got her first for the club, which Langley was delighted with.
"The first goal from Deanna is just a piece of real quality, the way she drove forward and then looked to finish was amazing," said Langley.
"I'm so delighted for her because she's so brave on and off the pitch. I'm equally as delighted for Amy because we executed our press well, won the ball back and she pulled off a great finish.
"Then Lois Joel produced a moment of quality after coming off the bench and it was a great finish from her."
The Lasses were roared on by a remarkable away following midweek in Greater Manchester, with the Newcastle supporters making themselves heard from minute one until the full-time whistle.
Allocated a corner of the South Stand, every fan in black and white ensured they showed their unwavering support for Langley and her players.
"Amy (Andrews) and I were talking after the game when we went over to the fans and we both said how we had goosebumps listening to them," added Langley.
"For our fans to come down here on a Wednesday night and cheer on the girls is simply unbelievable and we know that our supporters will stick by us through thick and thin.
"We wanted to win the game, but obviously weren’t been able to do so. But our performance is certainly something to be proud of."
