A cradle of raw talent, Real Madrid’s academy, La Fabrica, continues to churn out several young talents with bright futures.

However, the competition within the first team is often fierce, and playtime for aspiring players tends to be scarce.

As such, many homegrown players seek to venture out and spread their wings, most typically in La Liga.

One of the players who left Madrid in search of more opportunities is Miguel Gutierrez, who currently plies his trade for Girona.

Not thinking about a return

The left-back was questioned about the possibility of him returning to the Spanish capital, considering the Merengues maintain 50% of his rights.

Downplaying any future hypotheticals, Gutierrez showcased his contentment with Girona, shedding light on their excellent results as of late, saying:

“I don’t like to talk about the future because in football there are never any plans. I focus on the day-to-day, I’m happy at Girona, the group is spectacular and I only think about working with this team, to have a great year and we have a good squad to achieve it.”

No regrets over exit

While Gutierrez spent his time honing his skills in Madrid, his decision to leave his parent club and take his talents to Girona has worked out fairly well.

When asked if he regretted the decision to leave Real Madrid, the Spaniard responded with a no, as he said:

“No. I was playing in Primera RFEF with Castilla. To make the jump to La Liga is not easy and to have minutes, to play a lot of matches is complicated.

“It couldn’t have turned out better, I’ve landed in a place where the team has supported me, a coaching staff that understands my characteristics and style of play and I try to give them that. It’s impossible to regret it and it couldn’t have gone better.”
