According to a report from AS, Sevilla are actively searching for reinforcements in the upcoming January transfer window, with Barcelona’s Ansu Fati emerging as one of the names on their list.

However, while the Spanish club is keen on the young forward, there are significant concerns regarding his hefty salary and persistent injury problems.

Sevilla have been monitoring Ansu for some time now and are reportedly interested in bringing him to the club. Barcelona, on the other hand, appear ready to offload the 22-year-old once again in January after a mixed spell since his return to the club.

However, despite Sevilla’s interest, the financial aspect of the potential deal is proving to be a major stumbling block.

Ansu Fati’s wages and injury

Ansu’s wages at Barcelona are substantial, which means the Catalan club would likely have to cover a significant portion of his salary should he leave on loan.

This already makes negotiations tricky, but Sevilla’s hesitation is compounded by another issue—his troubling injury record.

The forward is currently sidelined with a muscle problem and isn’t expected to return until mid-December. This marks yet another setback in what has been an injury-riddled career.

Earlier this season, he missed nearly two months of action due to a sole injury in his right foot, sustained during pre-season preparations following his loan stint at Brighton.

Garcia Pimienta is still a fan

Despite these concerns, Sevilla coach Garcia Pimienta remains optimistic about Ansu’s potential. Having worked closely with the player during his time at Barcelona’s youth academy, Pimienta knows the talent and promise Ansu possesses.

He was one of the forward’s earliest supporters as the youngster rose through the ranks to make an explosive debut for the first team. Unfortunately, Ansu’s progress has since been derailed by a series of injuries.

Now 22, Ansu still has time on his side, and Sevilla hope his persistent injury issues will eventually subside. However, the combination of his fitness struggles and his high salary continues to make this transfer a challenging proposition for Sevilla.
