Rebecca Knaak has stated her delight in joining Manchester City following the defender’s arrival from Rosengard.

The German centre-back has become the Club’s maiden January acquisition, subject to international clearance, following her illustrious three-year stay at the Swedish outfit.

During her time with Joel Kjetselberg’s side, she helped them to the 2022 Svenska Cupen and to two Damallsvenskan titles – including their most recent triumph in 2024.

Before then, the former Germany youth international also enjoyed spells at Bad Neuenahr, Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg.

And Knaak believes Gareth Taylor’s side provides the perfect conditions for her to write the next chapter in her career.

“It feels exciting [to be here],” she declared.

“I am very proud and I feel very honoured to be part of this big Club. I can’t wait to get started.

“I feel like, especially after this season with Rosengard, it was the perfect timing because I feel like I’m at the stage of my career now where I really want to take the next step.

“It feels like in this environment at this Club, with the highest ambition, it’s the perfect step for me to develop and to become a better player and also person.

“I felt I was ready for the next step and I can’t wait. I’m very impressed [by the facilities at the CFA]. I got a little round tour before and it’s amazing. It’s a great facility.

“[It’s] a really nice environment, and I feel like this is the perfect environment to get better in every part of life. In football, but also off the pitch.”

Knaak joins City ahead of the second half of the 2024/25 Barclays Women’s Super League season with the Blues also fighting in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

After our second place finish last term, despite matching our best-ever top-flight points tally, Taylor’s team are once again on the hunt for silverware this year.

And our newest recruit is relishing the opportunity to play and fight for major honours in England.

She added: “I am so excited [to play in the WSL], I think it’s the best league in the world right now and I honestly can’t wait to challenge all the other teams in the league and also see the level.

“And also, to see everything around, like the fans and the whole culture in England. It’s honestly a dream and I’m really excited to see that in life."
