Barcelona could be without the services of a key member of the club’s backline for their upcoming meeting with Real Sociedad.
That’s according to Marca, amongst other sources, who point towards Pau Cubarsí as the player in question.
Defender Cubarsí was for his part forced into a premature departure from Barcelona’s most recent outing.
En route to a 5-2 Champions League downing of Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night, the 17-year-old was on the receiving end of an accidental kick to the face.
The blow left Cubarsí downed and pouring blood, quickly rushed back to the dressing room for treatment as a result.
The 17-year-old was subsequently sewn up with 10 stitches, closing what was a considerable wound to have opened on his right cheek.
And, as per Marca, as much could yet prove enough to see Cubarsí ruled out against Real Sociedad this weekend.
The stopper, for his part, is in no two minds – he wants to feature and from the off when the Blaugrana visit Anoeta on Sunday night.
Hansi Flick, however, is altogether less sure:
‘Hansi Flick doesn’t like to risk anything in these kinds of situations and although the defender wants to play against Real Sociedad, the coach will think about it a lot. He will go with the utmost caution so that there is no chance of the wound reopening.’
