After tonight’s 1-nil win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad, Kevin De Bruyne only has one more match at home as a Manchester City player. That is a sad thought to ponder but it’s the reality of the situation. But as the curtain begins to draw on the City career of Kevin De Bruyne he once showed how important he is to Pep Guardiola’s side.

From the moment that De Bruyne’s departure from Manchester City at the end of this season was announced he has set about helping his team achieve their goals for this season. There has been no sulking from the City legend. He has gotten his head down and been pivotal in City’s current nine-game unbeaten run. That speaks volumes about Kevin De Bruyne both as a player and a person.

Speaking after his team’s crucial win, De Bruyne explained that his teammates are sad to see him leave the club. But De Bruyne is focused on helping Manchester City quality for next season’s Champions League. In an interview with SkySports, he said: “A lot of teammates have spoken to me, and I think they’re sad also that I have to go, but sometimes it goes like this in life. But I think the way that I’m performing and acting like a teammate is how everybody should supposed to be. I give everything and I want to win the game, so that’s it for me.

Despite the disappointment of his time at Manchester City coming to an end, Kevin De Bruyne is still giving his all for the cause. That is a credit to him and his performance tonight was pivotal in City’s win over Wolves. There is only one more match at the Etihad for De Bruyne as a City player and while that is a thought no one wants to contemplate you wouldn’t bet against him putting in one more inspirational performance.
