Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips could be offered a shot at a career revival by a club competing in the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign, according to reports.

The Englishman returned to duties with the Premier League champions following his first loan spell away from the club for the second-half of last season, spending six months with West Ham United at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

However, with Manchester City in the market for a new midfielder this summer, and the belief being that Phillips remains excluded from Pep Guardiola’s plans for the forthcoming season, club officials may have to seek another solution for the player.

Whilst there is believed to be widespread interest from within England for Kalvin Phillips, the opportunity of a move away from the UK could appeal in the hope of rebuilding his reputation at the top of the game through a new culture.

And the latest information has linked the Yorkshire-born midfielder with a move into the Champions League, in what could be an excellent opportunity to star at the top of European football, but away from the top-five leagues.

That is according to the information of Turkish media outlet Sabah, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, who claim that Super Lig giants Galatasaray are considering a move to sign Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips this summer.

Reports from Turkey throughout the summer transfer window have frequently highlighted a desire from the club to recruit a new central midfielder, with links elsewhere tying them with interest in Phillips’ Etihad teammate Mateo Kovacic.

However, the latest information reveals that Galatasaray have been approached by agents with regards to Kalvin Phillips services, with club directors now evaluating whether to sign the former Leeds United midfielder and are considering making an offer.

From the side of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, unsurprisingly it is detailed that the Catalan head coach would be willing to sanction a move to Turkey for Phillips, with the player not featuring in his plans for the new season.

Kalvin Phillips is currently away in the United States with the rest of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City first-team set-up, as the club embarks on a four-game tour of the east coast of the country, having already completed meetings with Celtic and AC Milan.

This week has also seen Phillips trained in a new position, taking up the role of right centre-back alongside Josko Gvardiol, in what could be a new tactical switch for the clash against FC Barcelona in Orlando, Florida.

It remains to be seen whether Phillips could establish himself in Guardiola’s plans as a back-up central defender, but a lot will depend on his success in the role against Hansi Flick’s side at Camping World Stadium on Tuesday night.
