Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli addressed several hot topics during his latest interview ahead of last night’s UEFA Champions League game against Aston Villa. Speaking to Prime Video via Gianluca Di Marzio, Giuntoli opened up on the club’s plans for the January transfer window.
Despite going to great lengths to sign a reliable alternative for Dusan Vlahovic in the summer, Juventus ended up empty-handed. To make things worse, second-string striker Arkadiusz Milik has been unavailable for selection since the start of the season due to injury.
Giuntoli admitted the Turin giants are awaiting Milik’s recovery with bated breath amid speculation Juventus could try to lure Manchester United flop Joshua Zirkzee back to Serie A.
“We rely on Milik’s recovery as he is good and suited to the coach’s style,” the Juventus chief executive said. “I have many good players noted down but we think Milik is the right player for us.“
However, Juventus will not sit tight this winter. Thiago Motta has lost two valuable defensive pieces to long-term injuries. After Gleison Bremer slumped to a season-ending knee problem in October, summer addition Juan Cabal joined him in the treatment room with a similar injury.
Therefore, Juventus will try to reinforce Motta’s defensive options in the upcoming transfer window.
Juventus are reportedly in advanced talks to acquire the services of former Inter captain Milan Skriniar. The Slovakia international is desperate to leave Paris Saint-Germain after tumbling down the pecking order in his second season at the Parc des Princes.
