Shell-shocked Juventus have now hit a new low under Thiago Motta after suffering an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Atalanta. The visitors had the upper hand from start to finish, and should have grabbed more than one in the first half. Nevertheless, they made up for their wasteful opportunities in the second period, adding three more, much to the chagrin of the Allianz Stadium crowds. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who saw their Scudetto hopes shatter in front of their eyes by suffering a shocking 0-4 defeat at home against Atalanta.

Juventus (4-2-3-1)

Michele Di Gregorio – 6.5

The Italian goalkeeper kept Juventus alive for as long as possible with a flurry of superb saves in the first half, but eventually succumbed to his fate.

Timothy Weah – 5

The American had decent moments against Davide Zappacosta, but was wasteful when presented with Juve’s best chance of the first half.

Federico Gatti – 5.5

The Italian fought hard as always after overcoming a muscle problem to make himself available. He was one of the few players to receive some applause from the disgruntled crowds.

Lloyd Kelly – 5

The Englishman made some important interventions, but will be remembered for his poor pass which allowed Atalanta to score the second goal.

Andrea Cambiaso – 4.5

An under-par display from the Italy international who couldn’t contain Juan Cuadradro in the first half, and wasn’t able to bring the ball forward properly.

Manuel Locatelli – 5

The Juventus captain was one of the last to raise the white flag, but couldn’t command the middle of the park nor inspire the troops.

Khephren Thuram – 4.5

The French midfielder did well to block Ademola Lookman early on, but this was the end of his useful contributions.

Kenan Yildiz – 4.5

To be fair, the teenager shouldn’t have started the match as he had been suffering from flu, and it certainly showed. Lost almost every duel, and misplaced his pass on several occasions.

Weston McKennie – 4.5

The American was all over the place, and it was his needlessly elevated hand that gave Atalanta the spot-kick that opened the scoring. Nevertheless, he proved to be the Bianconeri’s biggest threat upfront, but was denied by Marco Carnesecchi’s super save.

Nicolas Gonzalez – 5

The Argentine is a hard-working individual, but what Juventus need at the moment is quality and decisiveness in the final third, something he hasn’t been able to add.

Randal Kolo Muani – 5

Although he sparked Juve’s best chance in the first half with a clever flick that freed McKennie, this was certainly the striker’s most uneventful showing since his arrival in January.

Substitutes

Teun Koopmeiners – 4

The Dutchman hardly had an impact on the right against his former employers.

Samuel Mbangula – 4.5

A few flashes here and there, but you could barely notice his presence on the pitch.

Alberto Costa – 5

The Portuguese wasn’t exactly an upgrade on Weah.

Pierre Kalulu – 5.5

The Frenchman made some decent interventions, but couldn’t prevent Juventus from conceding another two goals.

Dusan Vlahovic – 4

The Serbian was the Hail Mary substitution at 3-0, but somehow managed to make it more catastrophic, with his slip instigating a fourth goal.
