Manchester City have been sent a clear message by Juventus boss Thiago Motta over the January intentions of Andrea Cambiaso, speaking during a recent press conference.

The Premier League champions are believed to have shown an interest in the versatile full-back during the January transfer window, particularly after Kyle Walker brought an end to his time at the club by joining AC Milan on loan.

With the temporary agreement between Walker and the San Siro side running until the end of the season, AC Milan also have the option to make the move permanent via a €5 million transfer fee, as such leaving City with the plan of strengthening in his role.

Some reports in Italy have even gone as far as to suggest that an agreement had been reached between Manchester City and Juventus over Andrea Cambiaso, while the official line being briefed to English press was that the defender is more likely to be a target in the summer.

Since the transfer window has closed, many around Cambiaso have discussed the case of his future openly with media outlets as the second-half of the season gets underway post-market, including those within the Turin club.

Speaking during a recent press conference, Juventus manager Thiago Motta was quizzed for his thoughts on Andrea Cambiaso and the full-back remaining in Turin despite intense speculation over transfer interest from Manchester City.

“I’m happy for him that he stayed in a great team like Juventus,” Motta told reporters on Thursday morning.

“I think he always had the idea of staying,” he continued, despite some reports indicating that personal terms had been agreed between the 24-year-old and the Premier League champions.

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola has not commented on the matter of Cambiaso throughout the January transfer window and is unlikely to do so, often adopting the approach of remaining silent on those who do not officially play for his club.

As such, with Walker out of the door, Pep Guardiola will turn to his existing group of defenders to occupy the right-sided full-back role, with Matheus Nunes taking up the position in recent games supported by Rico Lewis as back-up.

City have utilised the likes of Manuel Akanji and John Stones in the role in recent times to relative success, while there is a belief that either Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis can also take up the position if required.
