Just in: Barcelona youngster set for Ligue 1 switch, move could be announced tomorrow | OneFootball

In a major development, journalist Sique Rodriguez via Carrusel reports that Barcelona misfit Ansu Fati is all set to join AS Monaco imminently.

The 22-year-old attacker will be signing for the Ligue 1 outfit on a loan deal with an option to purchase.

In fact, the report further states that Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, will meet Barcelona president Joan Laporta for dinner when they aim to finalise the operation and announce it as early as tomorrow.

This development comes after Ansu had a meeting with Mendes over lunch earlier today to discuss his options and make a decision on his future.

Even though Premier League club Chelsea came in with a proposal for the La Masia graduate, he prefers a move to Monaco and made it clear to Mendes.

As such, everything appears to be fast-tracked now, with the attacker understood to have already collected all his belongings from the club’s Ciutat Esportiva facilities.

Once regarded as the future of the Barcelona attack, Ansu’s career has been hampered by regular injury problems.

While he did show some glimpses of his potential this term, the attacker was never able to accrue meaningful minutes under Hansi Flick.

Having previously rejected a chance to leave Barcelona in January, Ansu has accepted his fate now and is all set to move on, with Monaco being his next destination.

And if there are no setbacks, the transfer – a loan deal with a buy option – could be made official as early as tomorrow.
