Ivan Juric insists Roma ‘lack winning mentality’ but players have a ‘chance’ to ‘look beyond the mess’ and ‘turn things around.’

Roma only have one point in two European matches this term.

Juric replaced Daniele De Rossi last month and has two victories, two draws and two defeats in charge of the Giallorossi.

He’s expected to rotate his squad tomorrow, but he hasn’t yet decided on all starters except Tommaso Baldanzi, who joined him in front of the media today.

“I haven’t yet decided, but I think there will be some changes, so we’ll be allowed to make different choices—not massive changes, just a tiny bit,” he said at a press conference, as quoted by TMW.

Are Roma as determined as he would expect?

“Half and half,” the coach replied.

“I think we played well in the last game [against Inter], but we still lack a winning mentality. The mentality is not worthy of Roma. At the end of the day, I think we have everything to work well, but we must change. I expect a different attitude tomorrow to improve the situation further. We need a stronger character. We can’t accept mistakes like those against Monza.

“I see players who have improved, but we still aren’t where Roma must be. This is the moment to push.

“You get the winning mentality in training. That’s where you grow and become tough,” continued the Roma boss.

“It’s about the daily work. We are still not there, but we are working on it.”

Fans and pundits believe Roma will need a stronger presence inside the club, but Juric disagrees.

“There’s nothing I lack. I have a director I often talk to,” he said.

“He comes to watch training sessions and we talk a lot. We have a top training centre and a top management.

“The club has a vision, the target is to qualify for the Champions League because it’s very important,” Juric added. “We won’t underestimate anything.”

“We had to win against Monza and draw against Inter. When you play certain matches, you must get the results,” continued Juric.

“There are games where we’ll play badly. Right now, performances are better than results, but this is no excuse. Right now, we are not ready mentally. The guys have a chance to look beyond this s*** and the mess surrounding them. They must have an incredible hunger to turn things around.”

Roma currently sit 10th in the Serie A table with 10 points from eight matches, eight goals scored, and six conceded.
