Borussia Mönchengladbach have confirmed that Julian Weigl is currently in the process of negotiating a transfer to another club. Gladbach let this be known shortly prior to kickoff in their 2025/26 Bundesliga opener against Hamburger SV. Where Weigl might potentially be headed remains unclear.
Weigl was recently linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, but there are plenty of other clubs potentially interested in the former German international. Red Bull system clubs RB Salzburg and Leeds United have expressed interest in the 29-year-old.
Weigl currently maintains an estimated market value of €6m. Reports from Sky Germany earlier this summer nevertheless suggested that Gladbach still seek a transfer fee in the €10m to €15m range for the six-times-capped international.
Weigl remains a sure bet to depart Gladbach due to the competitive situation in midfield. BMG head coach Gerardo Seoane’s recent shake up of the team leadership council saw Weigl removed in favor of the newly acquired Kevin Diks.
