Brentford Under-21s goalkeeper Julian Eyestone says there’s “a bit of a buzz” following their last league win as they look toward Ipswich Town Under-21s on Thursday night.

The young Bees will travel to Portman Road in Professional Development League action (7pm kick-off).

The clash will be Neil MacFarlane’s side’s first league game since the beginning of this month, when they defeated Charlton Athletic U21s 6-1.

“Vibes are high around here, we're really looking forward to getting back into some league action going into this game,” said Eyestone.

“Definitely feeling good coming off the international break, all of us had some good time away, and now we’re back, recharged and ready to go.

“It feels like there’s a bit of a buzz coming off our last league game, obviously a big win over at Charlton, so we're excited to go down and play.”

The Charlton victory was Brentford’s second on the season, a win that Eyestone said helped instil belief in the side that their best is good enough.

“We’ve felt this whole season that we could do that, we’ve been kind of knocking on the door with these big games and big teams where we just can’t get across the finish line,” explained Eyestone.

“The last game against Charlton definitely felt like it finally clicked, we busted down the door and showed what we could really do.

“It was definitely a good feeling finally proving to ourselves that this is who we are and everything we’ve been doing at the training ground is paying off.”

For the second time this league season, the young Bees will play in a first-team stadium, an opportunity that excites the group.

“Not many times that we get to play somewhere like that, everybody dreams of playing in places like this, so everybody’s buzzing to get out there, enjoy the venue, enjoy the day and just make the most of the opportunity,” said Eyestone.

Last time out

The young Bees fell to a 1-0 defeat to Derby County U21s on Monday night in Premier League Cup (PL Cup) action.

Prior to this they were bundled out of the Middlesex Senior Cup following a 3-2 loss to Northwood.

Brentford went into half-time down 2-0 before fighting back to equalise early in the second half. A late penalty to Northwood secured their victory, however.

Last time out in the PDL, MacFarlane’s side cruised to a 6-1 win over Charlton. A second-half hat-trick from Ashley Hay led the way, while Ben Krauhaus scored his first goal in Brentford colours.
