Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has become a key figure at Anfield, and his performances have not gone unnoticed. Recent reports have linked him with a move to Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal, but is there any truth to these claims?
According to Fichajes, the Hungarian is on the shortlist of Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal who want to make the 24-year-old their latest star signing. Reports suggest the Saudi club is preparing a staggering €120 million (roughly £100m) bid to lure Szoboszlai away from Merseyside.
This is not the first time Al Hilal has shown interest in Liverpool players. Previously, they targeted both Mohamed Salah and Darwin Núñez, signalling their intent to bring top-tier talent to the Middle East. With their ambitions of excelling in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, their desire to add elite players like Szoboszlai makes strategic sense.

However, according to Bence Bocsak for Anfield Watch, the reality is that the Hungarian is happy at Liverpool right now, and sources close to the player have told Anfield Watch there is no truth to the links to Al Hilal. Szoboszlai signed a long-term contract with the Reds and has no intention of leaving anytime soon.
With Arne Slot now at the helm following Jürgen Klopp’s departure, Liverpool are shaping a squad to remain competitive at the highest level. Szoboszlai has been instrumental in the club’s midfield, not only contributing goals and assists but also providing defensive stability. His ability to link play with Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah has been crucial to the Reds’ attacking fluency this season.
Al Hilal’s financial might is undeniable, but money alone does not dictate a player’s career decisions. Szoboszlai is still only 24 and has yet to reach his peak. The Premier League remains one of the most competitive leagues in world football, offering a stage where he can continue to develop and test himself at the highest level.
Liverpool’s reluctance to sell is also a major factor. Losing a player of Szoboszlai’s calibre would not align with the club’s long-term ambitions, particularly as they transition into the Slot era. His dynamic playing style fits perfectly within Liverpool’s high-intensity system, making him an indispensable asset.

Liverpool fans will be breathing a sigh of relief. Szoboszlai is proving to be one of the best midfield signings in recent years, and losing him to the Saudi Pro League would be a massive blow. While the financial offer might turn heads, it’s reassuring to know that both Szoboszlai and Liverpool are committed to each other for the foreseeable future.
From a tactical perspective, letting him go would weaken Liverpool’s ability to dominate midfield battles. His versatility, ability to press, and knack for scoring crucial goals have made him an integral part of the team. Given the rebuilding process under Slot, Liverpool should be reinforcing their squad, not offloading key players.
The truth is, Szoboszlai still has unfinished business at Anfield. He is yet to lift silverware with Liverpool, and with the club in a promising position, the focus should be on winning trophies rather than entertaining external offers. As things stand, fans can expect to see the Hungarian maestro dazzling in red for many more seasons to come.
