Zlatan Ibrahimovic has struggled to assert himself in his new role at AC Milan and despite the recent demotion, the Swede is likely to stick around, according to Sky Italia.

Ibrahimovic joined Milan’s organisation at the end of 2023, with the official title being Senior Advisor to the AC Milan ownership. In other words, he’s technicaööy hired by the owners RedBird and has been acting as a right-hand man for Gerry Cardinale.

Following CEO Giorgio Furlani’s trip to New York, where the Italian’s power was confirmed also by Cardinale, Ibrahimovic has experienced a demotion of sorts. His words still have an impact, but he can’t make final decisions as he initially thought.

“I think he was happy with his role at Milan, then when there was the issue of the sporting director after Furlani’s meeting with Cardinale, and the subsequent redistribution of roles within the club. He suffered from this. Ibra was put in a different position than before.

“Regarding his future, I expect the Swede to want revenge because leaving Milan after one of the worst seasons in recent years would also be a failure for his image. So he will stay at Milan, perhaps with a different role, even if his voice will continue to count,” Sky Italia’s Manuele Baiocchini stated (via MilanNews).

Many changes are expected in the summer and Ibrahimovic’s opinion could definitely be useful, as well as his ability to convince players to join the club. Then again, he also needs to prove himself in the eyes of the Milan fans.
