Former Roma manager Jose Mourinho touched upon some of the career choices he made while coaching the Giallorossi.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Mourinho revealed how his decision to commit to Roma even after the defeat in the Europa League final cost him the opportunity to coach the Portuguese national team.

“My friends, my family, even my agent told me to leave after last year’s Europa League final. But I felt the momentum of the club, from an emotional point of view, and I continued to work in Rome.”

“And so I refused the opportunity to coach the Portuguese national team and also a very convenient offer from Saudi Arabia in order to stay at Roma.”

“My future? I still have a long career ahead of me. I’m 61, it’s not like I’ll finish at 65… It’s not a question of the club: the only thing I want is for the objectives to be defined by everyone in good time. I can’t go to a club in which, just because of my career, the goal is to win a title. The only thing I want is for it to be clear.”
