The Special One revealed a mistake he had made during his tenure with Roma as he decided to stay the following season after reaching the Europa League final in the 2022-23 campaign, eventually losing it to Sevilla.

While Mourinho led the Giallorossi to Conference League triumph in its inaugural season, the Europa League final in the following year turned bitter as they lost to the Spanish side in penalties and the Portuguese coach was given a four-match suspension. On that. he said: “I should have left after Budapest. Not because of the mess Taylor made, but because I didn’t leave immediately. I should have left Roma, I didn’t and I was wrong.”

Mourinho praised Edoardo Bove and he likened his personality to the player. The current Fenerbahce manager remarked: “Bove is like me. Nobody gave him anything for free. He made his debut with me because we have similar principles, even if one is twenty and the other sixty”.
