Curtis Jones has revealed how former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp sent him a congratulatory message after his milestone appearance against Leicester.
Jones made his 100th Premier League appearance as Liverpool won 3-1 at Anfield, marking the occasion with the second goal.
The 24-year-old’s goal was his third of the season, already matching his best return in a Premier League campaign. He has emerged as a central figure under Arne Slot this season, for a Liverpool team leading the title race. Jones’s performances this season saw him awarded an England debut earlier this year.
Speaking to LFCTV after the game, Jones revealed how Klopp had sent him a congratulatory message for reaching a century of top-flight appearances for the Reds.
“100, on to the next 500. Congratulations my friend (and a picture of his little granddaughter),” Jones revealed the message said.
“He’s been texting me loads since he has been gone. He is texting me all the time. That’s what he is like with all the lads.
“He is the man who made me from a kid to a man. There was always talks around me, ‘is he good enough. He is always injured.’
“There is a reason why I am here now still. That’s because of him and the belief he had in me.
“He is still in touch with the whole team. He is a great man he is loved of us. He set up the foundation for the team that we’ve got. Slot is just carrying it on.”
