FC Barcelona are looking to strengthen their team for the upcoming 2025-26 season, and for this purpose, they have already announced the signing of one new player.

This player is the goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who had a very good last season with RCD Espanyol. The Catalans paid his €25 million release clause to sign him from their local rivals.

Although it has been some days since this release clause was paid and the transfer officially announced, it is only today that the goalkeeper has become a Blaugrana player in every sense of the word.

Joan Garcia signs his new contract

This is the case as Mundo Deportivo reports that the player visited the Spotify Camp Nou offices today, on Friday, to sign his contract with Barcelona. This contract will remain in force for the next six years, i.e., till 2031.

The President Joan Laporta himself welcomed the player and took him through to his office to sign his contract in a private ceremony. In addition to the goalie, this ceremony was attended by his close family and agents, Juanma Lopez and Andy Bara.

From the club side, there were several other notable officials present in addition to Laporta. These included the Vice President Rafa Yuste, Sporting Director Deco, and other members of the Sporting Commission, including Bojan Krkic, Joan Soler, Enric Masip, and the advisor Alejandro Echevarria.

The goalie signed autographs for Barcelona fans

After signing his contract inside the club offices, the goalkeeper also greeted the fans present outside the stadium and signed some autographs for them. After that, he left the club premises accompanied by Laporta and other club officials for a meal and a celebration of his joining the Catalan club.

Joan Garcia had a very good last season with Espanyol, and Barcelona were clear that he should be their future goalkeeper. Meanwhile, an important new phase has started for the goalie, and hopefully, he will only get better in his new club.
